British Say that Americans are Addicted to Plastic Surgery
In a recent article, published in the prestigious British newspaper, The Guardian, Ed Pilkington claimed that Americans are addicted to plastic surgery “with Botox and liposuction leading the way.” He made comments about the American struggle with obesity and cited census information to make his accusations.
However, what Mr. Pilkington failed to mention was that certain medical procedures cannot be performed on obese patients, and so the ties between the two issues are completely null and void. Many surgeons will refuse to operate on a patient who is not in top physical condition. This is because the patient must rapidly recover from the surgery and no surgeon wants to run the risk of being sued for malpractice.
Patients must have an acceptable BMI and prove that they eat right, exercise and do not smoke to get surgery in most practices. For more information on the health requirements necessary to undergo cosmetic surgery, contact your surgeon today.
